A2000 FDD
- mobo connector
- is labeled CN303
- there is a jumper J301 which when open is one drive (DF0:) and when closed is two drives (DF0: and DF1:)
- some original cables will have mobo connector pin3 blocked out
- some mobos will have mobo connector pin3 missing
- ribbon cable
- default length is 22“
- the 'middle' connector is for DF0:
- it is 14” from the mobo connector
- the last connector with the twist is for DF1:
- it is 8“ from the DF0: connector
- there is a twist at cable 4, 5, 6
- power
- the yellow cable is 5v
- the 'inner' two blue cables are GND
- the red cable is 12v
Making Your Own Cables?
- new cables should be 24”
- add an inch between mobo to DF0, now 15”
- add an inch between DF0 to DF1, now 9”
- mobo connector
- if the FDD connectors are pointing face up then this connector points face down
- if looking at mobo connector face up with key on the left side, pin1 is at the bottom
- DF0:
- this is the middle connector
- if pin1 is at the top then key should be on the right side
- DF1:
- this is the end connector
- if pin1 is at the top then key should be on the right side
- the twist, pull out wire 4-6 and reverse/rotate
- the twist should be about 1” to give it some wiggle/stretch room
